FAQ

What is the minimum and maximum age to rent a car?

For most car groups, drivers must be at least 23 years old and not older than 75. For larger categories (D, E, G, K, etc.), the minimum age is 25. Drivers between 21–23 may rent certain car groups with a Young Driver Fee of €9/day (max €90 per rental).

Can I rent a car if I am over 75 years old?

Yes. Drivers aged 75 and above can rent a car, provided they hold a valid license and pay a Senior Driver Fee of €9 per day (maximum €90 per rental).

What type of driving license do I need to rent a car?

EU/EEA licenses and licenses from Vienna Convention countries are accepted. Non-Roman alphabet licenses (Arabic, Cyrillic, etc.) or those from non-Convention countries must be accompanied by a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) and the original license.

Can I add an additional driver?

Yes. Additional drivers must meet all age and license requirements and be present at pick-up to sign the rental agreement. The cost is €4.50 per day, with a maximum charge of €45 per rental, per driver.

What is the fuel policy?

The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as at pick-up (“Same to Same”). If returned with less fuel, the difference will be charged based on current rates. No refunds for extra fuel left in the tank.

What payment cards are accepted for the security deposit?

A valid credit card in the main driver’s name is required. Only Visa and MasterCard credit cards are accepted. Debit, prepaid, Revolut, or virtual cards are not accepted for the deposit. The deposit ranges from €800 to €1,700 depending on the vehicle group.

Can I pay the deposit in cash?

No. Cash payments are not accepted for the security deposit. A valid credit card in the main driver’s name is mandatory.

What insurance is included in the rental?

All rentals include Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Waiver (TW) with an excess amount depending on the car group. You can optionally add Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW) to reduce the excess and include coverage for crystals and tires.

What is not covered by insurance?

Insurance does not cover damages to the interior, undercarriage, clutch misuse, tires, mirrors, or lights unless SCDW is purchased. Driving off-road, under the influence of alcohol, or violating traffic laws voids insurance coverage.

Can I take the car on a ferry?

Yes, within Greek borders and only with prior approval (at least 72 hours before pick-up). A Boat Fee of €62 per way applies. Ferry transport is not allowed from stations in Chios, Corfu, Crete, Lesvos, and Paros.

What happens if I return the car late?

There is a 60-minute grace period after the agreed drop-off time. Beyond that, an additional full day’s charge applies according to the daily rate. If you need an extension, contact the local office for approval.

What is your cancellation policy?

For bookings made via exercars.com, cancellations made at least 48 hours before the rental start time are fully refundable. No refunds apply for cancellations made less than 48 hours before pick-up or for early returns (“unused days”).
